Headway has made the Top 100 Next Unicorns list of Europe's most promising technology businesses. The team at Viva Technology, one of the biggest European tech events, compiled the list in collaboration with the investment bank GP Bullhound and with the participation of four of the world's leading investment funds: Accel, Eurazeo, NorthZone, and Partech.
This year's list features a significant presence from startups in the SaaS (Software as a Service) niche, with 43 companies represented. Digital media and artificial intelligence/big data categories are leading the pack, each with 16 promising startups. On average, these startups have raised $185 million, generating a total investment volume of $17.5 billion.
"This year, the Top 100 Next Unicorns list illustrates the structural development of the European technology ecosystem, with a remarkable dynamic in key sectors such as SaaS, but also AI, which has made a sensational entry into the ranking, " noted François Bitouzet, Director of Viva Technology.
The list includes companies from 16 countries. The Eastern European region is represented by five startups from Ukraine, Poland, and Hungary. Of the two Ukrainian startups listed, both are global EdTech companies: Headway and Preply. The companies were evaluated based on criteria such as actual and potential growth, the amount of investment raised, team scalability, geographical expansion, and positive societal impact.
"It is expected that the global AI market will grow by 37% annually from 2023 to 2030. However, people's need for education cannot and should not disappear. Our products help millions of users around the world develop themselves and learn day by day throughout their lives. I am pleased to see Headway among the most promising companies in this year's Top 100 Next Unicorns list," commented Anton Pavlovsky, Founder and CEO of Headway.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Headway was already included in the Titans of Tech report by GP Bullhound as a potential "unicorn."
